Job Summary:
Employees at the Friendship Cafe are representing all that the Friendship Circle stands for. With all the important tasks we do, the most important task of all is to make Friendship Café a place where everyone feels comfortable, accepted and “at home”. For this reason, it is imperative for ALL employees to have a pleasant demeanor, smile at customers, staff and participants, and leave personal conflicts or challenges at the door. People can FEEL positive energy and it can transform someone’s experience completely.
The Café manager will set the right vibe for the Friendship Café, and lead the team to exceed customer expectations and commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Employees are the face of Friendship Café to our customers. The café manager is expected to provide exceptional customer service, whether they are working with baristas, making a drink, preparing food, cleaning up, or chatting with customers.
The café manager is responsible for overseeing café operations, customer satisfaction and standards for the Friendship Cafe. They will lead the team of baristas, demonstrating accountability, strong team management skills and hands-on involvement with the day-to-day operations of the café. Additionally, the café manager is responsible for promoting the development of new menu ideas with employees and ensuring that recipes created for the Friendship Circle Café are adhered to.
More specifically, the café manager is responsible to:
- Manage the inventory of café supplies.
- Oversee, manage and train new hires including providing coaching, recognition and feedback.
- Oversee café catering orders.
- Create and maintain café schedule; including schedule changes and time-off requests.
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment and uniform at all times.
- Assist in leading bi-weekly Friendship Café meetings, encouraging participation and teamwork.
- Attend all Friendship Circle team meetings, and participate as an engaged team member.
Keep learning and growing, and be open to helping others develop as well! Our café employs people with special needs, and we expect our café manager to work alongside them, and mentor them, as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Prior leadership and food management
A people person and aligned values with The Friendship Circle
Serve Safe certified (This can be done after being hired).
Additionally, we are looking for people who have the ability to:
- Work in a team environment
- Maintain a positive demeanor, especially during busy times
- Multi-task: take orders, prepare drinks and pleasantly talk with customers
- Have a “can do” approach to problem solving
The Friendship Circle will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
